On the occasion of the exhibition curated by Hans Christoph von Tavel, Paul Klee. Uomo, pittore, disegnatore, which took place in 2004 at the Complesso del Vittoriano, Rome, I published my essay »'l'obiettivo di dare forma' alle correnti (del tempo)«. Following Moritz Bassler's dictum of »New Historicism«: »threads of discourse run in and out of the text, are variously interwoven inside and outside the text.« , I connect some of Klee's works in the exhibition through the idea of the fluid interrelationship between the autonomous organism and its environment, expand the processes of formation flowing in and out of each other in relation to Klee's multi-layered, network-like mode of creation, in order to overcome the traditional concepts of influence research. For the Zwitscher-Maschine n° 11 I slightly revised the original German version and added some more illustrations.
